Sfilata Chanel - Paris fashion week ( october 2010)

restaurant Germain - Paris

The Costes brothers, the Paris restaurant gurus, have come up with yet another surprise - Café Germain. The café-brasserie spreads over three floors, each featuring a vibrant, playful, yet so elegant ambiance, achieved through Costes collaboration with the architect and designer, India Mahdavi, a well-known figure on the international design scene. The first floor bar is done in the style of the 70s, with prevailing black and white surfaces, supplemented by glossy red and yellow hues in design elements and furniture.

A centerpiece and a distinctive mark of the café is a massive yellow sculpture, which as if grows out the black and white checkered tile floor and reaches through the ceiling. Created by the French artist, Xavier Veilhan, it's entitled „Sophie" and represents a lady dressed in a raincoat and high heels. The head and the upper part of the torso reappear in the upstairs lounge, contrasting with its bright blue walls. The lounge, with its quirky pink pool table, a huge round mirror and bright red design details has an entirely different feel about it. Germain's large windows and a decorative glass ceiling fill the brasserie with an abundance of natural light.

The stylish Parisian spot attracts an equally stylish public. Perhaps they come from the nearby St.Germain Blvd, packed with fine shops, nightclubs and numerous gathering places of Paris intellectuals. The French film , Catherine Deneuve, lives in the neighborhood, too, and, who knows, maybe you can catch a glimpse of her, coming out to fetch fresh bread and cheese for her breakfast.

Refined French Jam and Jelly

Christine Ferber

Niedermorschwihr, France

Christine Ferber, who works in the shop she inherited from her parents in the small wine-growing village of Niedermorschwihr in Alsace, produces various sweet products at the highest level. Best known are her fruit preserves, which are the finest I’ve ever tasted. Their combination of ripe flavor, sweetness, and delicate texture are the essence of refined French food. Among the dozens of kinds — single fruits and natural combinations (no pointless innovations) — it’s hard to cite any one, although her Quince Jelly has a particularly superior flavor. Outside the village, a very limited selection is sometimes available at certain shops, including La Grande Épicerie at the Bon Marché in Paris.

A few years ago, I collected more than 40 exceptional honeys, and this extraordinary lemon-blossom one from southern Italy was the favorite of every taster. Its refined, focused perfume expresses the essence of sweet lemon blossoms. The honey, certified organic, is produced in May from trees on the Amalfi Coast.

Chocolates

Michel Chaudun
149, rue de l'Université
75007 Paris, France
tel + 01.47.53.74.40
In Paris, the culture of making and appreciating refined chocolates is stronger than anywhere else in the world, and no one makes more refined chocolates than Michel Chaudun. He combines the highest level of skill, including the production of impeccable thin coatings, with outstanding materials, and a relatively conservative point of view on flavor. He offers not wild experiments but real gratification.

Château de Versailles

Il Castelo de Versailles sara molto piu pop in questo ultimo trimestre del 2010: dal giorno 14 di settembre inizia una mostra di sculture di Takashi Murakami.

versailles

Murakami scrive nel site do Chateau: (http://www.chateauversailles.fr/homepage)

“For a Japanese like me, the Château de Versailles is one of the greatest symbols of Western history. It is the emblem of an ambition for elegance, sophistication and art that most of us can only dream of.
Of course, we are aware that the spark that set fire to the powder of the Revolution came directly from the centre of the building.

But, in many respects, everything is transmitted to us as a fantastic tale coming from a very distant kingdom. Just as French people can find it hard to recreate in their minds an accurate image of the Samurai period, the history of this palace has become diminished for us in reality.

So it is probable that the Versailles of my imagination corresponds to an exaggeration and a transformation in my mind so that it has become a kind of completely separate and unreal world. That is what I have tried to depict in this exhibition.

I am the Cheshire cat that welcomes Alice in Wonderland with its diabolic smile, and chatters away as she wanders around the Château.

With a broad smile I invite you all to discover the wonderland of Versailles.”

Takashi Murakami

La mostra “Murakami Versailles” rimane fino a 12 di dicembre.
